Development Bingo
A Guide for Coaches
Our Development Bingo cards are designed to support coaches with age-appropriate focus areas across the season.
Rather than trying to teach everything at once, the bingo cards highlight key skills, concepts, and behaviours that players should be exposed to at each age group — both on and off the court.
These cards are intended to:
Provide inspiration when planning sessions
Encourage balanced development across skills, decision-making, and sportsmanship
Keep coaching aligned across teams and age groups
Remove pressure to “win now” and refocus on learning
Coaches don’t need to complete every square or treat this as a checklist. Instead, use it as a reference point throughout the season to guide training themes, reinforce fundamentals, and celebrate progress.
Development is not linear — and that’s okay.
The goal is exposure, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
How to Use the Development Bingo Cards
Use the bingo card as a season-long guide, not a weekly checklist
Pick 1–2 focus areas per training block or fortnight
Revisit key fundamentals regularly — repetition builds confidence
Use games and small-sided activities to naturally cover multiple squares
Celebrate progress when players demonstrate a skill or behaviour in training or games
Adjust focus based on your group — not all teams will progress at the same pace
The bingo cards are there to support coaches, not restrict them. If players are engaged, learning, and enjoying basketball, you’re using the framework exactly as intended.
